Austin, TX, August 25, 2011–– ManageEngine, makers of a suite of cost-effective network, systems, applications and security management software solutions, today announced advances to help IT management professionals own the cloud — and manage the premises. With IT360, Applications Manager 10.0 and OpManager 9.0, ManageEngine offers an integrated IT management approach that addresses the demands of managing cloud, virtual and physical environments for all IT management professionals — from CIOs to IT managers to system administrators and beyond.

ManageEngine will demonstrate its integrated IT management suite in booth #1520 at VMworld® 2011, being held at The Venetian and The Wynn hotels in Las Vegas, August 29–September 1, 2011.

IT is rapidly adopting virtualization thanks to its advantages in consolidating servers and effectively running database servers, web servers, web applications and other applications. That rapid adoption, however, is introducing challenges such as virtual machine sprawl, software licensing costs, and virtual machine management.

Meanwhile, the network and system administrators typically responsible for managing virtualized environments are already overburdened by the myriad of infrastructure technologies and applications — including virtual machines from multiple vendors — in place at most organizations. As a result, some IT managers and industry analysts predict that further adoption of virtualization within organizations could be stunted without better IT management controls over their virtualized environments.

"VMworld 2011 and the overall success of VMware underscore the sea change taking place in IT," said Raj Sabhlok, president of ManageEngine, a division of ZOHO Corp. "Bottom line, IT wants to tap the functional and financial advantages of virtualization and cloud computing. But rather than standardize on a single vendor's technology, most IT departments are adopting virtualization technologies from multiple vendors and introducing related virtualization challenges. In response, ManageEngine provides a single pane of glass that lets IT manage all of its vendors' virtual machines, as well as its cloud and physical entities, creating a holistic view of the entire environment."

ManageEngine Highlights at VMworld 2011

ManageEngine arrives at VMworld 2011 with an array of applications geared for all levels of IT management. IT360 is an integrated IT management dashboard designed for CIOs and IT managers. Applications Manager 10.0 provides availability and performance monitoring for application managers. OpManager 9.0 monitors network, server and IT infrastructure for system and IT administrators. All three applications offer rich support for virtual devices, including:

  • multi-vendor VM support for virtualization technologies from VMware as well as Microsoft and Citrix; and
  • VMware software integration for monitoring and managing all aspects of the network — including VMware software-based devices — from a single application.

The IT360 dashboard provides a 360-degree view across IT to proactively monitor performance. It is designed to monitor and manage IT infrastructures for medium and large enterprises, and adds a business context to monitoring IT resources to help the various stakeholders understand the impact of downtimes on the business. IT360 comprises Network Performance, Server and Application Performance, Database Performance, and End User Experience Management. The latest release of IT360 will offer 64-bit architecture support.

In addition to demonstrating the above at VMworld 2011, ManageEngine will highlight recent and imminent news as follows:

Applications Manager 10.0 helps businesses ensure high availability and performance for their business applications by ensuring servers and applications have high uptime. The latest version of Applications Manager features advances in:

  • End user experience monitoring (EUEM) with support for Ping, DNS, LDAP and Mail Server RTT
  • Virtualization and cloud monitoring with support for VMware vCenter Server, vFabric tcServer, and Amazon S3
  • Capacity planning for virtual environments

OpManager 9.0 provides complete, end-to-end network, server and IT infrastructure monitoring with advanced fault and performance management functionality across critical IT resources such as routers, WAN links, switches, firewalls, VoIP call paths, physical servers, virtual servers, domain controllers and more. The latest version of OpManager adds support for:

  • Drag and drop IT management workflow designer that lets administrators create workflows that can be triggered by performance bottlenecks or outright failures
  • Runbook automation to facilitate VMware administrative remediation options such as power off, power on, reset, suspend and reboot VMs and hosts

Free tools from ManageEngine give IT professionals a number of options for monitoring and managing virtual machines, including:

  • Free VM Health Monitor for VMware ESX® and VMware ESXi™
  • Free Hyper V Configuration Tool
