NetFlow Monitoring FAQs
I already have OpManager. Why do I need the NetFlow plug–in?
OpManager helps you to monitor health, availability, and performance of all devices and applications on your network. The NetFlow plug–in provides detailed information on network bandwidth usage with drill–down into specific applications, users, ports and conversations. This helps in determining the exact reason for bandwidth spikes and outages. The store of flow information thus collected also helps in important capacity planning decisions. The powerful OpManager & NetFlow Plug–in combination offers a complete network monitoring solution for your enterprise.
Which devices are supported by the NetFlow plug–in?
The NetFlow Plug–in leverages NetFlow®, sFlow®, IPFIX® cflowd®, J–Flow®, rFlow®, NetStream® and Cisco NBAR® information exported from routing – switching devices to provide in depth visibility into the top talkers and applications on your network. See supported devices list below.
How the NetFlow plug–in is licensed?
OpManager’s NetFlow plug–in is licensed based on the number of interfaces*. You have the option of purchasing a license for the required number of supported devices or critical interfaces.
*Any Physical, Virtual, Sub, VLAN Interface is considered as an interface for licensing purpose.
Is the NetFlow plug–in a separate downloadable file and what is the prerequisite?
Yes. NetFlow plug-in is a separate downloadable (13 MB) file. (Click here to download the file)
The only prerequisite is, you should have OpManager 8000 build or later.
What installation platforms are supported?
For now, NetFlow plug–in supports only Windows installation (.exe).
Does the NetFlow Plug–in need a separate database?
NetFlow plug–in uses the same MySQL/MS–SQL instance of OpManager for storing the collected data.
